The profile said “Author.”
The work said much more.

The March audit of Gregory Shepard’s profile began with “General Partner | Author.” It left a visitor to connect his founder experience, book and speaking work themselves.

I centred the revised profile on The Startup Architect. His track record could then support a clear lead, instead of competing for the headline. That decision gave the rest of the profile a direction.

My experience as Chief of Staff for The Startup Architect and Head of Marketing at Startup Science connects that positioning work with the writing, production and coordination around it. Through Ascend North America, I bring those parts together for founders.

When the venue changed,
the whole campaign had to follow.

For Startup Grind Oceanside, the move to Frontwave Arena reached beyond an address. I coordinated six event listings and the venue-change communication. The LinkedIn record covered 43 accounts, including people who already had the update and did not need another message.

A clearer profile.
Then a consistent body of work.

With Ken Parkinson, I connected a profile refresh with a weekly series on AI and workforce transformation. The profile explained the expertise; the content gave people a way to see it in practice.

A new offer needs more
than another post.

Your profile still describes the old role. The website lists everything you can do. A promising visitor has to work out what to hire you for. More content sends people back to the same unclear offer.

We start with that offer, choose the proof that supports it, then develop the pages and campaign materials around it. When a plan changes or someone responds, the next step is part of the work too.

The profile, the post and the campaign each have a job. Here is what that looked like in the work, with the results and my role kept in view.

Connect the message.
Build the materials.
Carry the work through.

This is the thinking behind my projects and the books I’m developing. Each part has a job, and each needs to agree with the next.

The message.

Start with the buyer’s situation and a piece of work they can recognise. Decide what you want them to understand, what you can actually deliver and which proof belongs beside that promise.

The materials.

Give the profile, website, newsletter and campaign assets distinct jobs. Keep the offer recognisable across them, while adapting the opening and next step to the person using each channel.

The follow-through.

Make the decisions, responsibilities and review points visible. Check the route a reader will take, prepare for the response and leave the next person with something they can use.

Make your marketing work.
Know what to ask of AI.

Two practical books in development. These are working titles and covers; publication details will follow when confirmed.

Marketing That Gets Done, 3D front-and-back working cover by Rheanne Razo

Marketing That Gets Done

Turn separate marketing tasks into a campaign that holds together.

The invitation is ready. The venue has changed. The campaign now needs more than one edit.

For founders and small teams doing the marketing themselves. The venue-change story opens a practical look at the offer, the materials and the follow-through, drawing on documented work and clearly labelled teaching examples.

  • Choose the offer and proof that should lead.
  • Keep the pages, invitations and updates connected.
  • Prepare what happens after someone responds.
Read the opening

The address is one line on an event page. When the venue changes, that line can become a problem in half a dozen places.

There is the registration page somebody bookmarked. The invitation already sitting in an inbox. The flyer a collaborator is about to share. The contact record that needs an update. The person who has a question and expects an answer. A small change in the plan can expose every place where the work depends on someone remembering to tell someone else.

That is the kind of marketing work this book is about. The thinking that makes the promise clear, the materials that carry it, and the coordination that keeps the promise intact as the work moves.

AI Behind the Marketing, 3D front-and-back working cover by Rheanne Razo

AI Behind the Marketing

Know what to trust, what to change and what still needs your judgment.

The AI draft looks finished. The important decision is still missing.

For marketers and founders using AI to research, write and produce. It starts with my own cover revision, then follows worked examples from source to draft to editorial decision, including the versions that went wrong.

  • Check the source before trusting the output.
  • Turn one source into useful assets for different channels.
  • Review the version that will actually be used.
Read the opening

A draft can look finished before the work is understood.

That became visible while developing the cover for my first marketing book. We had a polished image, a clear title, and a professional-looking layout. Then I asked where the design came from. The answer was a creative direction generated for the project. The published reference had not been established first.

The next version began differently. We inspected a real marketing book through its publisher, identified the design choices worth borrowing, and wrote the instruction around those observations. The output then had something concrete to be reviewed against. [1]

  • Your expertise or offer has grown beyond the way you currently explain it.
  • Your profile, website and content need to tell the same story.
  • You have real work and proof to build on, and can make the decisions the project needs.
